Multi-Disciplinary Design System for Software Development Company
It was an internal project for Mirumee aiming to create a scalable and customizable design system.
The challenge
Each design system, whether custom or pre-existing, is built on different foundations, often limiting the ability to create the desired user experience.
Our goal was to create an adaptable design system with open-source foundations that prioritize openness to improvements. This system should be flexible enough to accommodate all the products our clients need to build.
Flexible workflow
Developing a "clean slate" project for future commercial endeavors required an innovative approach to storefronts, design systems, and documentation. That's why we based our process on the motto, "Develop and describe what is currently essential."
In Nimara, focusing solely on one aspect for long periods wasn't feasible, so we took small steps to deliver crucial parts of the design gradually. Close collaboration with engineers and project managers was essential to complete tasks and ensure decisions would benefit future design development for our clients.
The outcome
We created a complex design system in Figma, forming the foundation for our custom Nimara storefront. The clear principles of the Shadcn UI and Tailwind CSS enabled us to quickly build an MVP and complete a commercial project without compromising user experience.
This combination offered great flexibility while remaining comprehensible to all groups of developers and designers.
