Designing a Mobile Health Platform for Sandoz

Helping physicians deliver personalized, compliant patient education through secure mobile access
⸺ About the Client

Sandoz is a global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines. The Global Digital Hub operates as an internal innovation team responsible for digital content production and channel enablement across Sandoz's worldwide markets.

⸺ 01 / CHALLENGE

Automating Doctor-Patient Information Delivery at Scale

Physicians often spend a large share of each consultation repeating essential health information to patients, particularly those managing chronic conditions. Studies show that patients forget up to 80% of medical advice, leading to poor adherence and higher healthcare costs.

Sandoz Global Digital Hub set out to change this. They decided to find a way to automate repetitive doctor-patient communication by creating an app where healthcare professionals (HCPs) could easily and safely leave information for their patients.

Project Objectives & Challenges

The project aimed to build a scalable, legally compliant, and user-friendly platform for doctors to deliver consistent educational materials without ever storing or processing personal patient data. The solution also had to work across diverse global healthcare systems and regulatory frameworks.

⸺ 02 / SOLUTION & WORK DONE

A Secure, Login-Free Mobile Prototype

Mirumee partnered with Sandoz Global Digital Hub's team of innovators and practicing physicians to co-create a digital concept that would improve doctor-patient communication.

After reviewing several ideas, the team focused on developing a mobile health app allowing physicians to share personalized educational content via unique, secure links. The links would be accessible on any device, without logins or data collection.

To ensure the solution met the needs of diverse users, we created several personas reflecting different demographics and digital literacy levels. The insights confirmed that mobile internet is widely accessible, making mobile web and multimedia content the most inclusive option.

Physicians could search for specific diseases or treatments, access curated resource playlists, and record personalized videos or audio in local dialects to better support patient understanding.

The prototype included:

  • A preloaded library of approved medical materials,
  • Tools for physicians to record or upload their own videos or audio (e.g., in local dialects),
  • A patient-facing web interface, optimized for accessibility and ease of use.

We handled the concept, UX design, and interactive wireframes, ready for technical implementation in future development phases.

⸺ 03 / RESULTS & IMPACT

Full Regulatory Compliance With Zero Patient Data Collected

Mirumee delivered a fully validated concept and design prototype demonstrating how physicians can effortlessly share compliant, personalized content at scale.

The project provided Sandoz with a clear blueprint for a global rollout, showing potential to reduce repetitive consultation time and improve patient understanding.

At the same time, it set a new benchmark for patient communication that balances accessibility, personalization, and regulatory safety.

Impact & Summary

This project redefines how pharmaceutical companies can empower HCPs through digital health tools. It bridges the gap between clinical expertise and patient comprehension, while maintaining full regulatory compliance from day one.

By focusing on user experience and leveraging mobile applications for health education, this solution has the potential to improve patient engagement and overall health outcomes.
